Poolscape and pool deck

A pool is only as good as the ground around it. The deck is laid in pavers with a soldier course following the coping line, wide enough on the long side for loungers without crowding the water.

Behind it, a block retaining wall holds the bank back off the deck and carries a built-in bench, with steps up to the lawn at one end. The bed above the wall was planted so the wall is looked over rather than looked at.
